Diagram tooling - overview

There are various libraries and palette available, let's look at the icon library on the left first...

In the left pane you'll find the icon libraries, minimize or expand any library by clicking on its title bar. (Don't click the "X" or you will remove the library.)

These assets are for designing single components in diagrams and are split into several categories:

Icon Library contains assets for creating detailed service diagrams:

These assets are for designing logical diagrams:

These assets are for adding template components to diagrams:

The last library contains standard default icons included with the tool, we'll ignore them for this workshop:

There are tabs at the bottom of the main window. Click on tab Starting Canvas, we'll just view this canvas:

There's a second tab at the bottom of the main window, click on Kit of Parts to select and view this canvas:

To view color palette, select a shape from Kit of Parts tab. Click on shape Application components and note the red outline (meaning it's in a locked state):

To unlock the shape, use the EDIT menu and LOCK/UNLOCK (CMD + L for OSX) as shown here. When unlocked (the shape is highlighted and no longer red), the color palette appears in top right pane. Just view this for now:
